Crescent City Harbor Trail

Crescent City Harbor was destroyed twice by tsunamis – in 1964 as a result of the big earthquake in Alaska and in 2011 from the Japanese earthquake. The harbor was rebuilt both times and the new one has a tsunami resistant marina. Several interpretive signs at the marina give details of the destruction caused by the tsunamis.
The harbor trail connects to the California Coastal Trail. Walking southeast leads to Crescent Beach while walking north follows the crescent of the harbor to Beach Front Park where, at low tide, a rocky path goes to the Battery Point Lighthouse and Museum. The trail is fairly well marked except for a section which follows Sunset Circle, a quiet back street. The trail continues at the other end of Sunset Circle. Total distance one way is about 1 1/2 miles.

The trail is paved and mostly level. The path to the lighthouse is rough and not accessible.

The harbor parking lot is large enough for any RV. Harbor 41.74893, -124.18218
