Levi Coffin State Historic Park
Levi and Catharine Coffin were Quakers who opposed slavery and worked against it by providing a rest stop and transportation for slaves escaping to the north and Canada. They helped over 1,000 people achieve their goal of freedom.
The site includes a small visitor center, the Coffin house, and a small carriage house with a wagon and carriage. Guided tours are given in the house. The visitor center has a short video and exhibits on the third floor.
The visitor center is accessible. Rough gravel covers the ground around and in the carriage house making it difficult to access. The first floor of the Coffin house is accessible, the 2nd floor and the basement are not. We did not visit the Coffin house and were given a discounted price.
A small parking lot is located behind the visitor center. Large RVs can be parked on the side streets. Park 39.95639, -84.9172
