Appalachian Forest Discovery Center

  The center occupies one large room and has displays on logging and mining in the Appalachian mountains, and the culture, music, and crafts of the people that came from Ireland, Germany, Italy, Scotland and the American South to build communities and work in the industries.

   The center is housed in a 1902 grist mill and feed store. The West Virginia Railroad Museum is located on the second floor.

   The center is accessible. We did not visit the railroad museum but it has a ramp and appears to be accessible.

   The parking lot has five pull in spaces that are long enough for short RVs. Longer RVs can be parked on the side streets.  Museum 38.92349, -79.85105
