First time using new blogger..uhhh.. Can't figure how to add caption ..so 9/12/2001 Ken and I were headed to Kansas to drop a hat at our cousin's house.  Ok, an excuse to go to Kansas for our vacation.  WOW. There were American Flags everywhere! The feeling was incredible..wish we had that now instead of the hate. :(  

Sunday morning we left home just about 1000 hrs.  In our minds we were headed to Ely, Nevada about 6 hours away or so.  We hit Highway 50 in Fallon, NV and continued east. We pulled over just outside Eureka, NV and I made some wraps for the 2 of us for lunch. 

Sand Mountain Nevada! Quite the razorback there! A challenge, Aaron are you up for it!! 💙

Illipah Resorvoir! 

It cooled off enough for a campfire! Thank goodness for our Little Red Campfire!

Ken mentioned instead of going to Ely what not stop at Illipah Reservoir for the night? It's only about 30 miles outside of our original destination. Sounds good. Our original plan was to just boondocks on the backside of the Prospector Hotel so we could visit Margaritas Mexican Restaurant but there wouldn't be anything else to do. 

We got to the reservoir about 1600 hours.  The campsites were packed!  We did find a great site overlooking the lake so that's where we camped.  Ken went to start the propane water heater and it wouldn't light!  He got out the manual and still wouldn't work! What the heck?!  It worked fine until we took it in for warranty service and that wasn't included.  With the generator running it runs fine on electrical. Uhhh.! 

We just enjoyed the rest of the afternoon watching fishermen and having Happy Hour. So quiet and peaceful. Eventually we called it a night after I made tacos for dinner..we got our Mexican fix! 

This morning we didn't get up until close to 0700! No internet service so no visiting with our blogging friends or FB.  It was close to 0930 when we left the campsite.  We were headed for Margaritas in Ely to have breakfast. It was awesome! With full tummies we left and ran by Cal Ranch as Ken was looking for a wire brush. Then the gas station and we were out of there.

Had a lovely drive up highway 93 to Wendover, NV.  A gas stop and then into Utah. We didn't realize until later that we lost an hour, but that's ok.

This is Utah side of Wendover.  As kids we stayed here many times :) 

We are spending the night at a Flying J in Maga, Utah just outside Salt Lake. Didn't want to be going through at the commute hour.  

Surprising how many compliments Ken has gotten on his Trump 2020 hat.  A truck driver parked behind us struck up a nice conversation and from my seat here at the table I can see at least 2 Trump hats on his dash :) This morning a veteran stopped on the way out of the restaurant to compliment him! 

The below pictures are of the (protest) in Minden, NV..only a little over an hour from us!  A small town that supports their President! Our neighbors Stacey and Rylee went along with her mom, Susan! They said it was AMAZING!
