Seaside Promenade
The promenade has been a popular feature of the little town of Seaside since the 1920s. The ocean view is blocked to some extent by a protective barrier of grasses and dunes Houses - many for rent –, condominiums, and hotels line the other side of the promenade so this is not a typical shore city boardwalk with saltwater taffy, ice cream, and amusements.A statue of Lewis and Clark is located at Turnaround Point on the promenade. The Expedition set up a salt works along the beach in 1805 to make salt needed to preserve meat for the return trip to Washington D.C. This is also the location for easy beach access with volley ball courts, swing sets, and a lifeguard station.
A reconstructed salt works is located six or seven block south of the statue and 1/2 block east of the promenade.
The concrete promenade is wide and level. Many trails lead to the ocean but they are not accessible due to soft, loose sand.
RVs may be parked at either end of the promenade. The south end has street parking, the north end has a parking lot with spaces that can be pulled through. Promenade 45.98037, -123.9335
