Saturday, New Years Eve I was texting with grandson Adam asking what they had planned for the evening. Erin was working and he was hoping she'd get off early! He said he didn't know what was planned.
We had rain all night and in the morning. About 1100 it turned to snow, lots of it! Early afternoon I get a text and he's figuring the best way to come over. I did tell him the weather was bad and we were getting alot of snow so to watch the weather. He was, he said. I got a text about 1500 that they were on their way! He and Erin both kept in contact so we knew they were ok.

We headed next door around 1400 or so. Karen's family who live in town were supposed to come out, but with the weather they didn't want to drive. Can't say as I blame them. More food for us LOL.
We spent the afternoon on their back porch with their propane heaters running watching it snow and turn into a winter wonderland! ❄❅
Somewhere in the early evening we lost power, we heard a loud pop, and it lit up the backyard and then darkness. Luckily with Karen being a candle maker she knew right where to go. Candles lit up all over along with a few flashlights we were fine. Pretty much most of Yerington, Silver Springs and other areas lost power.
Adam and Erin arrived around 2100 safely. He said there was a few dicey spots but all in all a good drive. We all settled in nice and comfy.
Nearing midnight we broke out the bottle of prosecco that Erin had brought. Hugs all around and a toast with some very special people. A great way to ring in the new year 💙
We ended up going home nearing 0100. The kids went to bed, Ken and I headed there about 0130.
Sunday morning we didn't sleep in that late, but was amazed at the snow! More than we've ever had in the almost 10 years we've lived here. It's beautiful but oh so cold.
Made breakfast with bacon, eggs and waffles. The bacon was KC and Sierra's from the Conder Ranch! Adam and Erin both said it was the best they've ever had! He said that about my waffles too 😋 Maybe he was just hungry LOL.
After breakfast they headed out to go snowshoeing up in the BLM. Pretty cool pictures, sure doesn't look like Nevada.

One they were back we pretty much stayed in and watched a couple of dvds (no internet for the television).
We had power back on yesterday morning. John and Karen along with most of neighbors still don't have power and probably won't until Tuesday evening. Ouch. They've brought in trucks from Vegas to help out. Not sure why we do, but we're grateful.
This morning we awoke to 13 degree temps and blue sky. Beautiful but with these temps the snow will be around much longer than normal and a possibility of more expected.
After a repeat breakfast the kids left around 1000. Ken had started a fire in the outdoor kitchen, so I went out there for a bit to enjoy the views and the warmth. We'll be back out there in a bit, before we head to John and Karen's for Happy Hour.
Brother in law Bobby retired today after 43 years and 7 months at Sutter Health Sacramento. He certainly looks happy! He's only 62 so he's got a lot of years to enjoy his retirement. Congratulations Bobby!
