When your daddy's a Marine you've got to have your Memorial Day Picture! π Miss Avery Grace
We left home on Friday the 22nd of May and headed a little over 2 hours to Tonopah, NV and Jim Butler Days for Memorial weekend. It was a beautiful day and weekend.
We walked the town and then got checked in.
Then to Tonopah Brewing Company to get a beer and a glass of wine.
We enjoyed ourselves and discovered Happy Hour began at 1400. :) Lots of people in town. We walked around some more and then back to Tonopah Brewing.
At 1800 the bartender races began which is always fun to watch. They had a new challenge that we really enjoyed. People had to hold out 32 ounce beer mugs for as long as they could. Started with kids (empty mugs of course). Then women had a 12 ounce beer and then men with 24 ounces of beer in the mug.

Yep he's the winner!
As you can imagine the kids and women didn't last too long but it came down to two men. The winner has won for the last 6 years. He did split some of his $ with the guy who came in 2nd.

Loved this shirt on the guy in front of me! RED is for Fridays!
We ended the night at Hometown Pizza almost across from our motel room. Good food, good drinks and excellent prices!

Nice pours and cheap prices!
Saturday morning we had our breakfast in our room. I had brought hard boiled eggs and toast.
We went out to watch the parade. What a waste! 99 percent was politicians promoting themselves. No high school bands, no ROTC nothing! Not even the fire trucks or sheriff! Not a Memorial Day Parade that we've enjoyed many times before.

The most patriotic part of the parade Nevada flag and his wife had the American flag.

Later in the day when we didn't know what to do we sat on the bleachers and people watched. LOL. Of course the random tumbleweed had to make an appearance :)
It was time to get to the main event of the day. Drilling and mucking. Well, we were disappointed, very disappointed. They had moved the event from the mining museum area to a place in town. No place to put your lawn chairs and they weren't even drilling a rock. Looks like they poured a couple block of cement to replicate the rocks they used to use. We didn't stay. We won't be going back! Need to find another small town that does a nice Memorial Day event.
We actually went back to Hometown Pizza for another yummy dinner.
Found a few other things to do and then actually took a nap in the motel room. LOL.
Woke refreshed and then Tonopah brewing for one more. I loved the wine glasses they used and asked if they sold them, they did. For the weekend 2 for 15. YES! When we got home, she had put an extra one in the bag π
The Mexican Restaurant in town for dinner. It was delicious!
Sunday we got home around 1300 and time for Champagne Sunday. LOL.

A little wind and a beautiful new flag greeted us at John and Karen's
Monday we were at Karen's for barbecue so that was a nice day too.
Thursday at about 1300 our friends Doug and Michelle in their motorhome drove in. They were completing about a two month trip and stopped by on the their way home to Kingman, AZ. It's been over 3 years since we last saw them. Last time was in Quartszite, AZ.

Love their license plate!

We visited in the indoor kitchen and then moved outdoors. Later Ken barbecued some chicken and John came over to visit.
We totally enjoyed having them. Friday afternoon we left here and took a little drive around Yerington (not really much to see LOL) We took them to the Cellar in Dini's Casino and had a few drinks. Then on to the Wagon Wheel where had drinks and Pizza! We've heard about the pizza but never had it. It was certainly worth trying YUM!

Saturday morning after breakfast they left for home. Hopefully we will see them in the Fall/Winter time.
Saturday was John's 57th birthday so we headed over there and enjoyed with some friends of theirs who we haven't seen in a long while. Bob and Carmen are some great people!
Sunday morning we were invited back to have quiche for breakfast before Bob and Carmen left. It was close to noon before we came home and enjoyed our Champagne Sunday.
Honestly we made it an early night! Having too much fun is catching up with us old folks! ππ
Looks like tomorrow we may be going for a drive to check out some campsites. We don't want to guess which site we're getting reserving online, so we'll pick some we like and see if they have any openings. They fill so quickly.
Avery had a newborn baby shoot so I will include some of those here:
